Raul Perez, Ultreia Valtuille other_regions_australia The red 2009 Gran Reserva

The red 2009 Gran Reserva has some traces of classical Rioja and "old wine" character

Dangerous and as though the flavour had been cooked out

Ripe and beautifully layered aromas are comprised by notes of Granny Smith apples

Quite a bit of oak

The stems show on the nose as this is quite floral with a cool and ripe plum and red berry fruit nose that is distinctly sauvage in character that is also reflected by the rich

Raul Perez, Ultreia Valtuille other_regions_australia The red 2009 Gran ReservaThe 2021 Ultreia Valtuille was produced with the clay part of their Villegas plot, as the sandy part was used for the new Ultreia Villegas bottling but introduced the lower part of the vineyard with more soil and more clay. They produced more or less the same amount as in previous years, some 18 barriques; but in 2021, they introduced foudres for part of the wine, and in this first year, the foudre was newer (they used it to ferment a white before).
