This is evolving glacially and certainly much slower than I originally foresaw but it should be a stunner of a Clos de Vougeot when it finally reaches its peak

(87-90)/2022+

3 ha parcel of 30+ year old vines on the Chassagne side

80% Tempranillo (aged in 4-year-old American oak for 36 months) and 20% Garnacha (aged in 2- to 3-year-old American oak for 30 months)

The sandy soils here meant that phylloxera never took hold so that most of the vines are ungrafted

Luigi Oddero, Barolo Rocche Rivera other_regions This is evolving glacially andThe 2014 Barolo Rocche Rivera(from the Scarrone cru) packs a serious punch in its deceptively midweight frame. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, hard candy, wild flowers and mint make a strong first impression before the firm 2014 Nebbiolo tannins kick in. Today, the Rocche Rivera is a bit rough around the edges and a touch wild, but it is certainly not lacking in personality. Antonio Galloni
