There is plenty of underlying tension and energy to the mouth coating and very serious finish that displays only a touch of rusticity

from the floral- and spice-laced nose to the racy frame of acidity to the expansive flavors of grilled nut

slight earthiness on the entry and truffle and black pepper toward the lightly spiced finish

hints of raw meat and lots of tannins

again somewhat surprisingly

Rusden, Black Guts Shiraz Vintage:2001 There is plenty of underlyingCoffee, dark chocolate, earth and mushroom. This has aged really well, with long, musty complexity on the palate. The fruit is dried up, but has a preserved, porty sort of power to it. This is a great vindication of how well those 'Parkerised' styles can age, in fact. Long, balanced, authentic. (RH)
