The blacksmiths repair is certainly of nineteenth century origin

Overall the panels are in good decorative order with some knocks and losses to each making them evocative of their life thus far

Pastel shades often appear in the ground of these rugs (certainly we have pastel shades in this example) and the design is conservative with old traditions continued in their floral patterns especially in the stylized roses

Small versions would have been intended to decorate a small cushion or pillow
