RARE Antique 18th Century Needlepoint Fire Screen Panel in Carved Frame, Point de Saint Cyr Tapestry Tabatiere sabot or confectioner's stamp is still

or confectioner's stamp is still inside the lid on this old one

but has a flaw to the inner thin wood lip as you can see

This truly incredible tiny work of art is a personal favorite of mine after decades of collecting

with the flaw as noted - a fine tight hairline that traverses just below midline (marked in x) which is faint on the front

it is the 3" and taller size typical of 18th century

RARE Antique 18th Century Needlepoint Fire Screen Panel in Carved Frame, Point de Saint Cyr Tapestry Tabatiere sabot or confectioner's stamp is stillEarly! Stunning! This is a very early 18th century needlepoint and petit point tapestry in the manner of the Louis XIV ones from the Ecole du St Cyr, and remains in its original hand carved walnut frame, formerly a large fire screen with the legs removed so it is now wall art. I first found this many years ago on the final day of a buying trip, at the Paris flea Market, and had to pass it by only owing to time. I did click a photo of it, however,
