Someone has kindly informed us this tool is similar to a cork borer they used to use to make holes in cork and rubber bungs through which one inserts glass tubing but this is not quite the same

The bigger buttons are marked on the back with faded makers mark 'Smith & Wright Ltd

The plane has a curved sole going across the sole like a hollow and round plane

Handles marked 'No 1' / 'No 3' respectively and 'Disston USA'

An old 'Guard' can / tin opener
